Mysuru:  The 4th edition of the top-rated book ‘Derivatives and Risk Management,’ authored by Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, was formally released by Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala and Chairman of SDMIMD, recently.

The publisher, McGraw Hill, organised an online webinar recently, wherein many students and faculty participated. The webinar involved a talk by Dr. Parasuraman on Risk Management and the specific coverage in the book.

Risk Management has assumed great significance in recent years and companies have become aware of techniques and frameworks for measuring and managing risk. Risks and uncertainties are of various types and encompass several vistas of management and global finance. These instruments have a wide range of use in a stand-alone way as well as in combinations.

Dr. Parasuraman’s book has been popular among students, faculty and corporate executives alike for its simplicity and broader use of corporate examples.

The author included several spreadsheet models for easy analysis of situations involving Derivatives.

The book’s first edition had figured in the top 10 best sellers (Business World, Aug. 8, 2009).
