Mysuru: Ranga Rathnakara, Bengaluru, had organised a programme at Suruchi Rangamane in Kuvempunagar here recently for the release of the book ‘Swara Prastharada Rangageethegalu’ edited by senior theatre artiste late Dr. Sindhuvalli Ananthamurthy.
Speaking on the occasion, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Y.D. Rajannaa commended Suruchi Rangamane evolving as a good cultural hub and a popular place for children to gain knowledge through stories. He opined that theatre music was on the verge of extinction and appreciated Ananthamurthy in coming out with a book on theatre music.
He said that Vijaya Sindhuvalli, wife of late Sindhuvalli Ananthamurthy, has been excellently carrying on story-telling at Suruchi Rangamane which has become very popular touching 400 sessions now.
Rajyotsava Awardee Dr. H.K. Ramanath, Programme Convenor of Suruchi Rangamane, was felicitated on the occasion.
Theatre songs were rendered on the occasion under the leadership of Professional Theatre Singer Hulikal Nagaraj accompanied by Rajappa and Nagendraprasad on harmonium, Jayaram on tabla, D. Ramu on clarinet. Singers Radha and Shanta rendered the songs.
University of Mysore (UoM) Prasaranga Director Dr. M.V. Manjunath, Secretary H.S. Govindegowda, Vijaya Sindhuvalli and H.K. Shashidar Dongre were present.
