Mysuru: University of Mysore Vice-Chancellor Prof. N.K. Lokanath inaugurated the borewell recharging unit installed near the Department of Studies in Earth Science, Manasagangothri campus in city recently.
To increase the ground water level at Manasagangothri, the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India, has taken up the rain water harvesting project, for which it has sponsored the borewell recharging unit at a cost of Rs. 16 lakh.
This project aims to store rain water and rejuvenate ground water. If it succeeds, CGWB will install another recharging unit in the campus. HoD of Earth Science Prof. D. Nagaraju, Prof. B.V. Suresh Kumar, students and others were present.
