Brahma Kumaris host workshop for farmers on ‘Yogic Agriculture’

February 20, 2017

About 500 farmers from five districts of Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Hassan and Kodagu  participated in the workshop where they were briefed on yogic agriculture.

Delivering the keynote address, Lakshmi D. Raju, Joint Director, Department of Horticulture, Lalbagh, Bengaluru, opined that organic farming gave good yield as it was free from chemical fertilisers.  She contended that the residual level of pesticides in agricultural produce was going up in recent times that has prompted people to switch over to organic products. She added that the government too was promoting organic farming with good incentives.

Referring to ‘yogic agriculture,’ Lakshmi opined that symbiotic relationship existed between yoga and agriculture as both have congruence with nature. She added that yoga performed with dedication and positive attitude amidst crops in field during ‘Amruta Galige’ or wee hours of day would definitely give good yield in agricultural produce.

On the occasion, a book titled ‘Krishikara Anubhavaamrutha’ was released by Badagalapura Nagendra, General Secretary, Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha.

B.K. Murthy welcomed the gathering. B.K. Pranesh briefed on the workshop. Brahma Kumaris Mysuru Head Rajayogini B.K. Lakshmiji presided.

A two-minute silence was observed before the start of the workshop to pay tributes to farmers who had committed suicide owing to drought.
