Babbur Kamme Sangha presents Pratibha Puraskar to meritorious Brahmin community students

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru City and District Brahmins Association President D.T. Prakash said that the Brahmin community condemns the recent statement of Opposition leader and former Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, who  while targeting the Brahmin community, had reportedly demanded withdrawal  of the 10 percent reservation for economically weak upper caste communities announced by the Centre.

He was speaking at the ‘Pratibhotsava’ programme organised by Babbur Kamme Sangha for presenting Pratibha Puraskar to meritorious Brahmin community students who had scored high marks in SSLC, at the Sangha premises located on Sahukar Channaiah Road in Saraswathipuram here on Saturday.

Maintaining that no Government in the past came forward for announcing reservation for Brahmins, Prakash said that Prime Minister Modi announced 10 percent reservation for the economically backward among upper castes. But this reservation is yet to be implemented in Karnataka, he said and appealed the ruling BJP leaders to ensure that it is implemented immediately.

Lashing out at Siddharamaiah for unfairly targeting the Brahmin community, he said that this shows the former CM’s hatred towards upper castes.

Corporator M.V. Ramprasad, who also spoke, said that as a Corporator, he had successfully fought for distribution of laptops to talented students of Brahmin community also. He appealed the community students to make use of this initiative and denounced the statements of some political leaders targeting the community.

A total of 54 Brahmin community students who had scored high marks in SSLC (2021-22) were presented Pratibha Puraskar.
