Nation should be built as per aspirations of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda: Former SC Judge

July 18, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that the nation should be built as per the aspirations of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, former Supreme Court Judge V. Gopalagowda said that everyone should realise that it is the judicial system which is playing a key role in the rule of law.

He was speaking after inaugurating the 513th Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanthyotsava organised by Mysore Bar Association at the District Courts Complex here on Saturday.

Pointing out that though the State Government has been celebrating Kempegowda Jayanthi for the past five years, Justice Gopalagowda said that but for the celebrations, little efforts have been made for educating the public on the deeds of the erstwhile Bengaluru Founder.

Historian Dr. Talakadu Chikkarangegowda stressed on the need for the Government to undertake an in-depth study on Nadaprabhu Kempegowda.

Maintaining that Kempegowda lived for the welfare and well-being of the people, he said that the erstwhile ruler was not limited to just one community. He further said that Kempegowda built numerous lakes and water bodies and gave shelter for people and livestock. Contending that the concept of Supreme Court prevailed as early as the 11th century, Chikkarangegowda wanted the Centre to establish the SC Southern Bench at Bengaluru. The legal fraternity should unanimously take up this cause and fight unitedly for achieving this, he added. Justice  V. Gopalagowda was felicitated in the presence of Adichunchanagiri Shakha Mutt Seer Sri Somanatha Swamiji.

Principal District and Sessions Court Judge M.L. Raghunath, former Legislative Council Chairman Veeranna Mattikatti, former Assembly Security Superintendent M.L. Pillappa, Karnataka Bar Council Vice-President B.R. Chandramouli, Mysore Bar Association President M. Mahadevaswamy, Vice-President Puttasiddegowda, Secretary S. Umesh and others were present.
