Bharathinagar: A soldier, serving in Border Security Force (BSF) at Punjab who had come to his village on leave following illness, has died in the village. The incident took place at Menasagere village near here.
The deceased soldier is M.T. Prasanna Kumar. He was under treatment at the village when he breathed his last.
He leaves behind his wife, one son, one daughter and a host of relatives and friends.
Following his death, the District Administration and the BSF accorded honour by firing gun shots in the air during the last rites and the National Flag was handed over to his wife Radha.
Former Minister D.C. Thamanna, who participated in the last rites of soldier Prasanna, said that every citizen was safe because of our soldiers guarding the country and it is the duty of all to respect our soldiers.
The body of Prasanna was taken in a procession around the village with students of Jnana Mudra School playing musical instruments and leading the procession.
Last rites were held at the family’s farm land in the village yesterday during which Tahsildar T.N. Narasimhamurthy, BSF Officers and others were present.
