BSY to undertake Statewide tour after Ganesha Festival

September 1, 2021

Bengaluru: After a brief interval, former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa (BSY) is all set to undertake a Statewide tour after Ganesha Festival. “After the Ganesha Festival, the State President, District in-Charge Ministers and myself will sit together and discuss the districts to be visited for strengthening the party and preparing for elections. There is no question of me alone undertaking the tour. We all together will visit the districts,” he told reporters on Saturday.

This statement is important in the light of a vow he took soon after he resigned as CM. He had clearly stated that he would not retire to a peaceful life as other senior party leaders had in the past.

He had said he would not rest until he would undertake a Statewide tour to strengthen the party and bring it back to power in the 2023 election.

So after a brief sojourn, Yediyurappa has made his promised Statewide tour plan public.

The political pundits, however, see this as an attempt by the Lingayat strongman to reinvigorate his mass image and shape the political future of his sons  B.Y. Raghavendra and B.Y. Vijayendra. Raghavendra is an MP, while Vijayendra is State BJP Vice-President. Political pundits also expect Yediyurappa to play a vital role in distribution of tickets in the next Assembly election. They already have seen his stamp in the induction of his men into Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s Cabinet.

Yediyurappa is a never-say-die politician who hardly relaxed in his entire political career whether he was in power or not.

By engaging in the Statewide tour, Yediyurappa wants to send a strong message to his opponents in the party that his political domination has not ended.
