Srirangapatna: A youth was alleged stabbed over betting on illegal bullock cart race at Palahalli in Srirangapatna taluk yesterday.
According to Dy.SP Sandesh Kumar, the youth who sustained serious stab injuries has been identified as Sachin of Palahalli, who had been admitted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru and the accused identified as Shivu of Kamanakerehundi was also assaulted by Sachin’s followers and he (Shivu) too has been admitted to K.R. Hospital.
It is alleged that a State-level Bullock Cart Race competition was organised illegally at Palahalli and the organisers had not obtained any sort of permission for the same. Contestants from Mysuru, Bengaluru, Hassan, Tumkur, Chikkamagalur and other parts of the State had arrived for the race which had attracted thousands of people. Dy.SP Sandesh Kumar said that illegal betting was also taking place during the competition and following a issue over betting, wordy duel ensued between Sachin and Shivu which led to Shivu stabbing Sachin. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
