Rs. 3 lakh worth jewels recovered
Mysore/Mysuru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) Police have arrested a burglar who was trying to sell the stolen gold jewellery and have recovered the stolen jewels worth about Rs. 3 lakh from him.
The accused has been identified as Prasad alias Prasadi, an accomplice of habitual offender Mohammed Munna.
The CCB staff — S. Raghavendra and Prakash Rathod —were investigating property theft, vehicle theft and house burglary cases and were patrolling in Narasimharaja (NR) Police limits, when they observed Prasad walking from Five Lights Circle towards a jewellery store on Ashoka Road.
The Cops who followed him, took him into custody and interrogated him during which accused Prasad is said to have confessed of committing a house burglary and had come to sell the stolen jewellery.
On grilling him further, the Police came to know that in October 2025, Prasad and Munna had burgled a house on Chunchanakatte Road in Hebbal village, K.R. Nagar taluk and had decamped with gold jewellery.
After dividing the stolen jewellery, he (Prasad) had sold a few gold items and was walking towards a jewellery store on Ashoka Road to sell the remaining gold jewellery he had got, he told the Police and added that Munna had taken his part of the stolen gold jewellery.
Based on the information from Prasad, the Police recovered Rs. 3 lakh worth gold jewellery from him. A case has been registered at Lashkar Police Station.
