Burglars have a field day, thanks to election season

April 13, 2019

Mysuru: It seems that burglars are on a field day as many Policemen and their officers are either busy in election duty or providing security to the VVIPs who are coming to Mysuru to address election rallies.

Because, just two or three days after the palatial house of a doctor was burgled in Vijayanagar where 5 kg gold, Rs.11 lakh in cash and 30 imported watches were looted in Vijayanagar, burglars broke into a house in Hebbal where cash and gold valuables worth 2,60,000 were lifted.

The incident was reported from the house of one Nagendra Kumar, a resident of KIADB Layout in Hebbal 2nd Stage. Nagendra had gone to work on Apr.10 and returned home in the night only to discover theft. A gold chain weighing 18 grams kept in the almirah of the house was found missing. Burglars gained entry into the house by prying open the grill door at the back and also breaking open the back door. The doctor’s house in Vijayanagar too was burgled in a similar fashion.

In another case registered in Vijayanagar Police Station limits, cash and gold valuables were burgled from a house at Vijayanagar Second Stage. The incident was reported from the house of one Jagannath, who resides on Snake Shyam Road in the locality. The incident is suspected to have occurred between April 5 and 11, when Rs.24,000 cash and two gold chains weighing 10 grams each have been stolen.

In another case reported in Hebbal, burglars took away a gold chain weighing 10 gram and silver valuables weighing two kg from the house of P.Y. Raghavan at Hebbal 2nd Stage. Raghavan also had gone for work after locking the house and returned in the evening.
