Cancer Care Centres in all Govt. Medical Colleges: Minister

Bengaluru: Cancer Care Centres will be opened in all Government Colleges across the State, said Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar.

Replying to A. Devegowda (BJP) in the State Legislative Council yesterday, he said the Cancer Care Centres had been proposed in Tumakuru, Vijayapura, Hassan and Mandya Medical Colleges. Later, it would be established in other Medical Colleges, he said.

Due to increase in cancer patients, it has been proposed to open Divisional-level Cancer Hospitals. Around 65,000 people were becoming cancer patients every year and Bengaluru’s Kidwai Memorial Cancer Hospital was offering best treatment to patients. A peripheral Cancer Centre of Kidwai Hospital had been opened in Kalaburagi. Administrative approval had been received to open such a Centre in Tumakuru and tender process has started, he added.
