Car accident: Mysurean killed in Tamil Nadu

Mysuru: A Mysurean, who was on his way to a temple in Tamil Nadu, was killed on the spot when the car he was travelling was hit by a Tavera vehicle on Tiruvannamalai Road, Krishnagiri District in Tamil Nadu yesterday morning.

The deceased has been has been identified as Prashanth (32), a resident of Nanjumalige in city, who was employed with a private firm in Bengaluru.

Prashanth’s wife Anu suffered fracture on her leg, while his nine-year-old son Dhanu, four-year-old daughter Manavi and the driver of the car escaped with minor injuries.

Prashanth was the son of Vanajamma and Subbanna couple, residents of Nanjumalige in city.

Yesterday morning at about 4.30 am, Prashanth, along with his family left Bengaluru in his Maruti Swift car to take part in a ceremony at a temple near Channagiri in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu. He had hired a driver for the purpose.

When they were travelling on Tiruvannamalai Road near Krishnagiri at about 8.30 am, a Maharashtra registration Chevrolet Tavera vehicle, coming from the opposite direction, veered towards its right side and rammed into the front left side of the Swift car, killing Prashanth on the spot.

The other occupants of the car were rushed to a hospital nearby, where the injured were treated and the post-mortem on Prashanth’s body was conducted at a government hospital. Meanwhile, Prashanth’s friends, who learnt about the demise of Prashanth in an accident, rushed to Tamil Nadu yesterday afternoon and brought the body of Prashanth and the injured family members to city in the wee hours of today.

The last rites of Prashanth were held this morning in city.

Tamil Nadu Police have registered a case.
