April 23, 2018

Three arrested, valuables recovered

Mysuru: The N.R. Police have arrested three persons on charges of looting Rs. 1.5 lakh cash and gold ornaments kept in the car and have recovered the booty from them.

The arrested have been identified as 25-year-old Kiran Kumar and Tulasi and 35-year-old Kannan, all residents of Vogikuppam in Andhra Pradesh.

All the three accused were lodged in Tumakuru Jail in other cases and the N.R. Police after obtaining permission from the Tumakuru Jail authorities brought the accused to Mysuru yesterday. After producing the three accused before the Court this afternoon, they would be shifted back to Tumakuru.

It may be recalled that the victim identified as Shakira had withdrawn Rs.1.5 lakh from Vijaya Bank, opposite Bal Bhavan in Bannimantap and had taken out 40 grams of gold ornaments from the bank’s locker and was on her way home in an Innova car. On the way, Shakira is said to have stopped near her under-construction house at North-East side of N.R. Mohalla and went inside the building.

By the time she came out, the three accused, who had followed her from the bank, broke the glass panes of the vehicle and fled with the gold and cash kept inside the car, following which, she lodged a complaint at N.R. Police Station.

The N.R. Police, after registering a case, formed teams and went in pursuit of the miscreants and after coming to know that they were in Tumakuru Jail, obtained permission from the Jail authorities and brought the three accused to Mysuru.
