Celebrating ‘100 Years of Rotary in India’ on Jan.3

Sankalpa-2020: 4th District Conference of Rotary District 3181 in city on Jan.4, 5

Mysuru: The celebration of ‘100 Years of Rotary in India’ and ‘Sankalpa-2020,’ the 4th District Conference of Rotary District 3181, will be held at Dr. Shivegowda’s USA Farm in R.T. Nagar here from Jan.3 to 5.

The celebration of 100 years of Rotary in India will be held at 5 pm on Jan.3 in the presence of Rtn. Shekhar Mehta, President-Nominee, Rotary International, as the chief guest. Rotarians Dakoju Ravishankar, M. Ranganath Bhat and A.R. Ravindra Bhat will be the guests of honour. 

On the occasion, a Coffee Table book titled ‘One Hundred Years of Rotary in India — 1920-2020’ describing history of Rotary Movement in the world, the entry and growth of Rotary in the country and community service projects carried out by Rotary Clubs in India is being released.

District Conference on Jan.4, 5

The District Conference will be inaugurated by Rtn. Shekhar Mehta at 8.30 am on Jan.4. Prabhu Dayal, former Ambassador and Rtn. PDG Damanjit Singh, RID 3011, RI President’s Representative, will deliver the keynote address.

Rtn. M. Ranganath Bhat, Rtn. A.R. Ravindra Bhat and Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, Founder of Adamya Chethana, Bengaluru, will be the guests of honour. Rtn. Prof. Joseph Mathew, District Governor, RID 3181, will preside. Humorist Dundiraj, Areca Tea Researcher Nivedan Nempe, specially-abled Vikram Agnihotri and well-known chef from Taj Hotels Nevin Thammaiah will also be taking part.

Dr. Madhavan Nair, former Chairman, ISRO, Dr. Manu Baligar, President, Kannada Sahitya Parishat, H.R. Ranganath, Chairman, Public TV and Aravind Jatti, President, Basava Samiti, Bengaluru, will be the chief guests on the day-2 of the Conference on Jan.5 starting at 9.30 am. Yoga Guru Sharath Jois and young golfer Pranavi Urs will also be present.

Rotary District 3181 comprises the Revenue Districts of Mysuru, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar and Dakshina Kannada. 

Nearly 2,000 Rotarians and their family members will participate in ‘Sankalpa-2020.’
