CESC MD Archana inaugurates Gandhi Shilp Bazaar at JSS Urban Haat

Mysuru: The Gandhi Shilp Bazaar, organised jointly by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India (GoI), New Delhi and  JSS Mahavidyapeetha at JSS Mysore Urban Haat  in Hebbal was inaugurated on July 28 by M.S. Archana, IAS, Managing Director, Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC), Mysuru.

The inaugural function was attended by T.N. Narasimha Murthy, KMAS, Commissioner, Hootagalli City Municipal Council; Dr. Probate Karan, Deputy Director, Weavers’ Service Centre, Bengaluru; S. Vinod Kumar, Assistant Director, Handicrafts Service Centre, Mysuru and D.T. Manjuswamy, Assistant Director, Handicrafts Service Centre, Mysuru, GoI, as guests.

Organised as part of Varamahalakshmi Festival celebrations, the exhibition-cum-sale features more than 50 artisans and handloom weavers from various States across India, showcasing and selling an extensive range of premium handicrafts and handloom products.

Visitors can explore a wide variety of traditional handloom sarees, garments, intricately carved wooden artefacts, metal crafts, terracotta products, home décor items and other exquisite handicrafts — all under one roof.

The Gandhi Shilp Bazaar is open to the public daily from 10.30 am to 9 pm till Aug.3. Admission is free and complimentary parking facilities have also been provided.
