Chain snatch bid: Youth thrashed

Mysuru: A youth, who made a futile bid to snatch a gold chain from a woman who was walking near K.R. Hospital on Tuesday morning, was caught by the public and beaten black and blue.

The youth, who attempted to snatch the gold chain, has been identified as Chandra alias Chandrahasa, a resident of Channarayapatna taluk in Hassan.

On Tuesday at about 9.30 am, the woman from Dodda Vokkalageri, was walking on the footpath near K.R. Hospital to go to the hospital for treatment when the youth attempted to snatch her gold chain. But the woman, who held on to her chain, screamed for help, which attracted the public, who caught hold of the youth and thrashed him.

Mandi Police, who rushed to the spot, took custody of the youth, brought him to the Police Station and interrogated him to know his background and whether he was involved in similar cases earlier.
