Mysuru: Chamaraja MLA K. Harishgowda has called upon officials to secure the MCC properties located in the limits of his Constituency.
Speaking at the progress review meeting of Chamaraja Assembly segment at the MCC hall here yesterday, Harishgowda, referring to his recent padayatra in the Constituency, when he came across numerous problems and public complaints, questioned the style of functioning of the officials.
Expressing disappointment that officials had failed in identifying and securing MCC properties, the MLA said he was not given correct inputs on the MCC properties. Asking the officials to secure all MCC properties at least now, he directed for providing facilities to readers at Libraries and for children at Anganwadis.
Stressing on the need for ensuring potable drinking water supply during summer, he maintained that he has been receiving complaints on improper water supplies in some areas.
“The officials should take urgent measures to repair dysfunctional borewells. Also, water must be supplied through tankers in areas facing acute water shortage. Water treatment plants operated by the MCC must be kept in good condition and all works concerning drinking water supplies and drainage construction should be expedited,” he said adding that engineers should keep a watch on the quality of works being executed.
Maintaining that areas such as Paduvarahalli, Manchegowdanakoppal, Kumbarakoppal, Hebbal, Metagalli etc., were facing severe drainage problems, he bemoaned that officials have turned a deaf ear to numerous public complaints in this regard.
“The MCC staff should work in such a manner that there is no scope for complaints. It has come to my notice that works have not commenced even after the tender process for a total of Rs. 44.65 crore (funded by National Green Tribunal environmental relief fund) to be taken up in 17 packages, has been complete. The officials must expedite the Rs. 7 crore underground drainage works being taken up out of Rs. 25 crore special grants,” he said.
After receiving inputs from the officials on the development works that are being executed in 20 MCC wards coming under Chamaraja Assembly segment, Harishgowda instructed the officials to take up works out of grants provided by the 15th Finance Commission.
Referring to the launch of E-Property drive, the MLA said that widespread public awareness must be created on the drive.
Asking the officials and staff of all Nine MCC Zonal Offices to work with a perfect co-ordination, he said that MCC officials must expedite the process of taking over Slum Board colonies from the Slum Board.
He further instructed for trimming roadside trees, cutting down dried up trees, proper lighting system at bus shelters, proper disposal of waste, ending street dog menace etc.
Most of the MCC plans and projects (development of circles, parks, libraries, swimming pool etc.) that were announced in the 2023-24 budget for Chamaraja Assembly segment are yet to be executed, he said and bemoaned that the much-anticipated food zone near the Water tank in Vijayanagar second stage is yet to be taken up even after a year of announcement.
Appealing the Government to allot Rs. 50 crore for Chamaraja Assembly segment, the MLA asked the authorities to construct a skywalk that connects Maharani’s College with the College Hostel, in addition to the ongoing college renovation works.
