Charity event in aid of Sneha Kiran of Mysore Spastic Society

December 12, 2018

Mysuru: Dedicated to the rehabilitation  of children affected by Cerebral Palsy (CP) and  developmental disabilities is Sneha Kiran of Mysore Spastic Society. Cerebral Palsy being a neurological damage that occurs to the developing brain that happens during the initial years of the child life leads to permanent  physical, communication and learning problems for the child.

A child with CP requires constant  intervention of Physio-Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and training on skills required to make day to day life easier and more manageable.

Sneha Kiran is a unique centre that provides all the necessary services for these children “under one roof” in the city of Mysuru.

Every child at Sneha Kiran is provided with Physio-Occupational and Speech Therapy, Special Education and Pre-Vocational Training,  Sensory Stimulation to help increase awareness of their surroundings, academic inputs based on their abilities and Assistive Technology as an aid to help students with severe physical impairments to access  computers and technology. Family support through counselling and guidance are also provided for children and families struggling to cope with the challenges faced.

All these require funding as families cannot bear the burden of facilities for their multiple-disabled child. The centre is constantly in need of support from individuals and corporates to sustain and further develop the much needed services provided to these special need children.

As part of its fund-raising effort to sustain and develop its services, Sneha Kiran is organising a dinner-cum-entertainment programme, “KRISTAANJALI,” a dance-drama by the special children of Sneha Kiran in collaboration with the students of Shri Ganesha Sangeetha Nrityalaya Charitable Trust, on Dec.16 (Sunday) from 6 pm onwards at St. Philomena’s Indoor Stadium, Bannimantap, Mysuru.
