Mysuru: A group of children interacted with Scion of Mysore royal family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar this morning as part of ‘Interact with the Maharaja at Palace’ organised by Kalisu Foundation on the occasion ofChildren’s Day.
Around 22 students from 8th standard from Government Higher Primary School, Kuvempunagar actively participated in this interactive session. Children posed several questions to Yaduveer. Their questions mostly revolved around the history of Mysore Palace like when was the Palace built, How many underground secret paths are there, where are the weapons kept, how many temples are there in the Palace, how many rooms are there in the Palace, etc. The Maharaja patiently answered all the questions and was surprised that the kids had so much curiosity about the history of the Palace.
On being questioned that why he does not sit on the Ambari during Dasara, Yaduveer said that it was mainly because of security reasons. He also added that he sits on the Amabri within the Palace premises during Bali Puja, as part of the Royal tradition.
Yaduveer distributed roses and sweets to all the children. He along with T.S. Subramanya, Deputy Director, Mysore Palace Board went on a ride around the Palace with children on the battery-operated vehicle. Subramanya told the children that the Palace has more number of visitors compared to the Taj Mahal in Agra.
Yaduveer said that this interaction with the kids turned him nostalgic and his mind ran back to his childhood days. He expressed his happiness to know that the young kids are so keen and curious about the history of Mysuru and the Palace. He said he will launch an online magazine which caters to the history and tradition of Mysuru. This magazine ‘Bherunda’ will be released once in two months on the online platform.
Nikhilesh, CEO, Kalisu Foundation, and members Pragathi, Abhida, Sandhya, and Ganesh were also present. A large number of students from various parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were also present at the Palace for the Children’s Day.
Sitting on Ambari, carrried by the elephant. He is not a real descendant of Wadiyars, and a real Maharaja; even the legitimate Wadiyar Srikanta Dutta did not sit on Ambari carried by the elephant.. It is time that the Mysore government terminated this pretend Maharaja title nonsense, wh and take over the Palace and convert it for viewing by the public just like the Versaiiles Palace near Paris. He should get a proper job and work for the people of Mysuru. There is no constitutional monarchy in India. It was abolished by Sirdar Patel soon after independence.
