Mysuru: The inauguration of the month-long 21st Chinnara Mela-2019  summer camp organised for children by theatre repertoire Rangayana will be inaugurated this evening.

Renowned artiste Ramachandra Hadapad  will inaugurate the mela in a novel way by reciting ‘Kayo Shri Gowri’ the then Provincial anthem of Mysore Kingdom with the participating children joining in chorus and with  ‘Karunalu Ba Belake’ popular light music song at 4.30 pm.

Presentation of short stories by children in series with acting will also be a special inclusion in the event.

A festive atmosphere prevailed at Rangayana premises this morning with the presence of large gathering of parents along with children.

Being held annually for the last 20 years, the summer camp is an opportunity for children to overcome their inhibitions, develop creativity latent in them and help discover their areas of interest. A series of personality development sessions will be held targeting the overall personality of the growing children.

The month-long camp will see 450 children participating in a slew of events.

All the participants have been divided into ten teams based on their age. Different teams have been given different names for their identification.

Children between 6 and 14 are participating in the mela. At the end of the workshop, the children will stage a play, which attracts theatre buffs without fail and is the main attraction of the workshop.

The camp aims to rectify the shortcomings in the schooling system according to sources in Rangayana.

Rangayana authorities have asked parents to pick and drop their children to the venue on time besides sending drinking water, fruits and snacks.
