Mysore/Mysuru: Alanahalli Police, following an order from city’s 3rd JMFC Court have registered a case against a woman, for cheating another woman of Rs. 2 lakh in chit fund business.

While the woman, who was cheated is 34-year-old K.M. Veena, a resident of Nimbujamba Road in Nazarbad, the woman, who has been accused of cheating Veena is 38-year-old Shashikala, a resident of Alanahalli in city.

Veena, who was earlier working as a house keeping staff at a hotel in Nazarbad, began to work in different places following the closure of the hotel. It was in the hotel at Nazarbad, where Shashikala and her husband Swamy met Veena and told her that they had obtained license from the Government and were running the chit fund business. They told Veena that a Rs. 2 lakh chit would commence on July 10, 2020 following which Veena enrolled herself to the chit and began to pay the monthly chit fund. The chit concluded in January, 2022 and Shashikala was supposed to pay Rs. 2 lakh to Veena, which she did not do.

Meanwhile, Shashikala’s husband Swamy committed suicide and Veena after a few days asked Shashikala for her money. But Shashikala kept on giving reasons since then. On June 8, Shashikala abused Veena with foul language and even threatened her with life and later Shashikala’s both mobile phones were switched off, according to the complaint.
