Mysore/Mysuru: Renowned artiste Vid. N. Ravikiran will be visiting the heritage house of Mysore Sri Vasudevacharya in the city on Apr. 26 in order to pay his tributes to the great soul.

On the occasion, he will be presenting a small Chitraveena concert, accompanied by Vid. Dhruv S. Pathangi on vocal, Vidu. Gayatri Sivani on violin, Vid. Mysore A. Radhesh on mridanga and Vid. Raghunandan Rao on ghata. The concert, beginning at 10.30 am is open to all music lovers.

Vid. Ravikiran is among the most illustrious musicians of our times. Considered a child prodigy for being able to recognise hundreds of Ragas and Talas at an age less than three, Ravikiran started giving concerts at five. He has been an eminent vocalist, an unparalleled Chitraveena player, a much sought-after teacher and a composer par excellence. The Wisconsin State Journal, USA, called him ‘The Mozart of Indian Music.’

Ravikiran has given thousands of concerts across the globe in major international festivals and venues and has collaborated with leading artistes and orchestras including members of the BBC Philharmonic, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, Apollo Chamber Players, Glen Velez, Taj Mahal and L. Shankar, to name a few.

The greatest of his achievements lies in the fact that, in spite of all these collaborations, he has remained a purist, upholding the classical traditions of Karnatak music and always enhancing its “gamaka” based style of rendition.

Vid. Dhruv S. Patangi, a senior disciple of Vid. Ravikiran, is an established vocalist having been performing solo concerts and vocal duets along with his brother Vid. Datre and supporting Vid.  Ravikiran in many of his creative presentations and albums.

Vidu. Gayatri Sivani is a young violinist, having learnt under Vid. Ganduri Srinivasa Murthy and Vidu. Narmada Gopalakrishnan. She is now under Dr. M. Chandrasekharan. At 20, she has already accompanied many of the top grade artistes in prestigious Sabhas. 

Both Vid. Radhesh and Vid. Raghunandan Rao are well-established percussionists from Mysuru, having stage experiences of over two decades.
