Record seizures of cash, liquor, gold, freebies worth Rs. 406.73 crore this year

Mysore/Mysuru: In a bid to prevent election irregularities, record seizures have taken place across the State this year.

In various operations by election officers, the officials have seized cash, liquor, gold ornaments, free gifts and other items worth Rs. 406.73 crore, thus creating a new record.

In the 2023 Vidhana Sabha elections, cash and other items worth Rs. 384 crore were seized and in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, a total of Rs. 88 crore cash and other items were seized.

But before the first phase of Lok Sabha elections can take place on Apr. 26, cash and other items worth over Rs. 406 crore have been seized.
