CID TV serial actor dies

Mumbai: Actor Dinesh Phadnis (57), well known for playing the role of Fredericks in television’s most popular serial CID, passed away yesterday. He is survived by his wife.

The actor was receiving treatment at Mumbai’s Tunga Hospital. His CID co-actor Dayanand Shetty, who played the role of Daya in the serial said, “Dinesh breathed his last at 12.08 am.”

As per earlier reports, Phadnis was admitted to the hospital after cardiac arrest, but Shetty confirmed it was liver damage.

Dinesh became a household name after playing the role of Fredericks in the long-running TV show CID, which first aired in 1998 and ran for 25 on Sony TV. He also made appearance on the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and played supporting roles in movies like Super 30 and Sarfarosh. Last rites were held in Borivali East yesterday.
