Cinerama-2024: National-level Short Film Festival at Amrita on Feb. 16, 17

Mysore/Mysuru: The Department of Visual Communication, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru Campus, has organised the 6th National-level Short Film Festival ‘Cinerama-2024’ on Feb. 16 and 17 at its premises in Bogadi II Stage.

 P. Sheshadri, National Award Winning Film Director, Kannada Film Industry, will inaugurate the Fest  on Feb. 16 at 10 am. Vinaya Prasad,Veteran Actress, will be the chief guest.

Popular Actor ‘Nenapirali’ Prem and renowned Singer, Music Director and Actor Gurukiran will be the chief guests for valedictory and awards ceremony on Feb. 17 at 5.30 pm. Vaishali Hanumanth and C.R. Hanumanth, Proprietors, DRC Cinemas, Mysuru, will be the guests of honour.

Besides the competition, the Fest comprises workshops and interactions with eminent resource persons from the cinema industry. Sessions on film editing, ‘Selected Takes’ by Appu N. Bhattathiri, Film Editor and Director, and content acquisition in OTT platforms, and career scope in non-fiction entertainment, ‘Tales Over the Top’ by Swati Sapna, Manager – Original Non-Fiction Programming, Netflix India, are organised.

The Fest aims at providing an exposure for students to showcase their talent and skills in short film making. The winners of the event will be acknowledged and awarded with cash prizes — First Best Film – Rs. 10,000; Second Best Film – Rs. 7,000; Third Best Film – Rs. 5,000.

Apart from the best three films, special categories such as Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Performer, Best Cinematographer and Best Editor will be awarded cash prizes.

Short films are invited from students and professionals across the country to participate in this Festival. Additionally, participants were invited to take part in the ‘60 Hour Film Making Challenge,’ which started this year to encourage budding filmmakers.

The first-place winner for the best short film will be awarded Rs. 10,000, the second-best short film will receive Rs. 7,000, and the third-best film will receive Rs. 4,000.
