City athletes shine in 35th Malaysian International Open Masters Athletics Championships

The following Master Athletes from Mysuru have excelled at the 35th Malaysian International Open Masters Athletics Championships, organised by Malaysian Masters Athletic Association (MMAA) at University Malaya Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia recently:

S. Gnaneshwar, an employee of SLN Enterprises, Mysuru (Contractors for Infosys, Hebbal), taking part in the 35 to 39 years age category, has secured Gold medal in Shot-Put (15.08 metres); Silver medal in Discus Throw (34.56 metres); Silver in Javelin Throw (47.89 metres). He is the son of Ex-serviceman S. Seetharam and a resident of Gayathripuram.

Vijaya Ramesh, President of Mysuru Masters Games Association (MMGA), taking part in the 65 to 69 years age category, has secured Silver in Long-Jump (2.85

metres), Bronze in Discus Throw (14 metres) and Bronze in Javelin Throw (13.56 metres). Daughter of Singari Gowda and wife of ex-Serviceman late Ramesh, Vijaya is a resident of Gokulam Third Stage in city.

Bhagirathy, HM of Sharada Nursery, Primary and High School, Sharadadevinagar, taking part in the 50 to 54 years age category, has secured Bronze in 200 mts. run (28 seconds). Daughter of K.E. Appachu, Bhagirathy is married to Jaykumar and resides at Sharadadevinagar.

C. Shivananja Shetty, Police Inspector, Nanjangud Rural Police Station, Mysuru district, taking part in the 45 to 49 years age category, has secured Bronze in Javelin Throw (28.79 metres). He is the son of late Chikkasubba Shetty and a resident of Kodimole village in Chamarajanagar.
