City BJP Executive Meet held

May 14, 2017

Mysuru: A day-long city BJP Executive Meet was held at Rajendra Kalyana Mantap on Ramanuja Road here yesterday. Speaking after inaugurating the meet, State BJP Vice-President and former Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad (in pic) lashed out at the JD(S) for being cahoots with the Congress by not fielding its candidates for the Nanjangud and Gundlupet by-polls held last month.

Hitting out at the JD(S) and its leaders H.D. Deve Gowda and H.D. Kumaraswamy, Prasad ridiculed them for their inconsistent stand, which actually had helped the Congress. Questioning why the JD(S) did not field its candidate for the Nanjangud by-polls, when the party had received more than 40,000 votes in the 2013 polls, he said that while the JD(S) had taken the support of BJP for attaining power in Mysuru Taluk Panchayat (TP), Zilla Panchayat (ZP) and MCC, it (JD-S) had joined hands with the Congress in BBMP, which itself explains the opportunistic politics of the JD(S).

Maintaining that the JD(S) will never come to power on its own in the State, Prasad said that the people would not trust the JD(S) as it had changed its stand frequently on many occasions, only for the sake of power.

Lashing out at Chief Minister Siddharamaiah for his arrogance, Prasad asserted that senior Congress leader A.H. Vishwanath too was now endorsing the statements made by him (Prasad) when he quit his Assembly seat and the Congress last year.

Accusing the Congress of spending money like water during Nanjangud by-polls, the BJP Vice-President exhorted the party workers to ensure victory in at least nine out of the 12 Assembly segments coming under Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts.

Noting that K.R. and Chamaraja Assembly segments in the city, now held by the Congress, were in fact BJP strong holds, Prasad said that the division of votes in these two constituencies  helped the Congress candidates win in the 2013 Assembly polls.

Asking the workers to shun their differences, Prasad highlighted the need for maintaining unity in the party for achieving Mission-150 in the 2018 Assembly-polls.

City BJP President Dr. B.H. Manjunath, Corporator Nandeesh Preetham, leaders Thontadarya, Phanish, L. Nagendra and others were present.
