City engineer loses Rs. 16.14 lakh to online fraudsters

Mysore/Mysuru: Online fraudsters have cheated a city engineer of Rs. 16.14 lakh on the pretext of providing part-time job.

The engineer, who was cheated, is 34-year-old R. Sunil Kumar, a resident of Nivedithanagar in city.

Sunil, who received a message on his WhatsApp about part-time job from Mobile No. 98550-78860, contacted the number and was given a few tasks to complete through Telegram App. When Sunil completed the tasks, the fraudsters deposited some money to his Bank account and later got a total of Rs. 16,14,087 transferred in phases, thus cheating him.

A case has been registered at city’s CEN Police Station.
