City girl gets scholarship to study Biological Sciences in Hungary

Mysuru: Deepshika Arun, a 12th pass out from NPS, Mysuru, has been nominated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and the Ministry of Human Capacities of Hungary for Indo- Hungarian Educational Exchange Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme to pursue a three-year undergraduate course in Biological Sciences at the University of Debrecen, Hungary.

The scholarship covers tuition-free education, accommodation, monthly stipend and medical insurance which are borne by the Government of Hungary, until the completion of her studies and UGC shall bear the cost of international travel.   

The undergraduate programme provides a complete education in Biology and also a number of specialised tracks such as Neurobiology, Genetics, Microbiology, Animal and Plant Ecology, Botany, Zoology and Plant Physiology. It also covers all facets of education, research and innovation in the biomedical, bioinformatics, natural and environmental sciences fields.

Presently, she is interning at Nireekshe, a school for special children in city where she teaches mentally-challenged children. Her hobbies include painting, music, playing guitar, travelling, reading and poetry.

Deepshika is the daughter of Dr. B.V. Arunkumar, Head, Department of Anaesthesiology, Apollo BGS Hospitals and Vanishri Arun, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Science and Engineering, JSS S&T University and granddaughter of noted theatre personality Rajashekhar Kadamba and Venkataramanappa, Joint Director (Retd.) BMRDA.
