City student selected for residential learning at Sirius Centre, Russia

Mysuru: Noel Shaji Mathew, a Class 9 student of Excel Public School, Mysuru, has been selected as one among the 25 students from all over the nation to a seven-day residential educational learning and innovation programme focused on Deep Technologies at the famous Sirius Centre, Sochi, Russia. 

Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, Government of India, has partnered  with the Sirius Centre to provide this opportunity to the students from  Top 100 teams of ATL Marathon 2018-19, ATL at Excel Public School being one among them. 

This educational programme is designed to develop students’ competencies in understanding deep tech and developing innovative engineering and technological projects to meet the pressing challenges of sustainable development. Sirius Educational Centre, Sochi, is a centre for gifted students in Arts, Science and Sports, where the skills of these talented students are enhanced with mentorship, training and experiential learning. 

As part of the selection criteria 300 students from across the nation were asked to study new deep technologies and define the problem statement, develop innovations and showcase the proof of concepts on any one area chosen from Remote Earth Sensing, Biological and Genetic Research, Clean and Balanced Carbon Free Energy Systems, Data Analytics and Frontier Technologies and Drones and Robotics. 

Noel Mathew, who chose arbon Free Energy System, proposed a plan to develop a unique version of the vertical axis wind turbine and his proposal made him eligible to be a part of the Indian delegation to attend this programme. 

Noel is the son of Shaji Mathew and Nita Shaji Mathew, residents of Hinkal, Mysuru.
