I live in Bannimantap, a well-known layout. The general public associates it with the Torchlight Parade Grounds, where the Mysuru Dasara procession culminates every year.

Just a few metres away from Parade Grounds is Bhuvaneshwari Kalyana Mantapa. There is a storm water drain next to this Mantapa and a road which connects to Jodi Thenginamara Road. It stinks always and it’s a shame. Why is that those dumping garbage here are not fined heavily? Fining them once in a blue moon will not help.

How can we say Mysuru is one of the cleanest cities when there are mounds of filth/debris/weeds (congress grass) unattended in the prime residential areas?

There will be several such spots all over Mysuru and probably the public either ignores as their ‘karma’ or are tired of complaining to the civic authorities.

Upkeep of Ring Road in several places is zero. Less said is better about the condition of roads in several places.

Yes, of course, some tidying/cleaning is customarily done whenever VIPs visit our cities. We hear that MCC and other departments will spruce up the route the Prime Minister will be taking shortly to attend a function. This is to impress the PM and hoodwink that all is hunky dory here! Why does the  MCC not please the tax-payers the same way?

Health Inspectors are taking it easy. They don’t give special attention to difficult spots. There’s no will to excel and find good solutions. They’re satisfied with some routine sweeping by the Pourakarmikas.

Recently I asked one staff as to when our city/nation’s streets will look like those in Singapore / Dubai / Europe / America? There was no answer.

I believe the MCC is understaffed as the city is growing fast. The Corporation should urgently recruit more staff (Health Inspectors and Pourakarmikas) to balance the workload on the present staff.
