Close shave for passengers as bus veers into 50 ft. gorge

November 3, 2019

Madikeri:  About 10 passengers, travelling in a KSRTC bus, had a miraculous escape, when the bus veered into a 50 ft. gorge at a coffee estate after hitting a Chevrolet Tavera vehicle following brake failure. The incident took place at Sandalkad in the outskirts of Madikeri.

If the driver of the bus had not used his presence of mind, the bus would have fallen into a big pond which is full to the brim in the coffee estate. The driver, upon coming to know about brakes not working, veered the bus in such a way that prevented the bus from falling into the pond, thus saving the lives of passengers.

The rear portion of the Tavera vehicle is damaged and the passengers inside it too escaped miraculously. Madikeri Rural Police, who rushed to the spot, conducted inspection and have registered a case.
