Dr. K. Triveni of Mysuru speaks with CM Yediyurappa

Bengaluru/Mysuru: Dr. K. Triveni from the Mysuru District Hospital, who was one among several doctors treating Corona positive patients day and night for last several weeks, interacted with Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa yesterday.

The CM held a video conference with Corona Warriors, who have been fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic without break and acknowledged their yeomen service to society, risking their lives. “ You are working under tremendous pressure due to COVID. You take care of your health too,” he added. 

Dr Triveni, who treats Corona patients at District Hospital, had contracted infection with her daughter. After recovering from the contagion, both have continued to serve the patients.

The CM told Dr Triveni, “I came to know that you and your daughter had tested positive for Coronavirus. You both are saving lives of several people and at the same time please take care of your health too. Your service during the Covid crisis is exemplary”, he said.

She told Yediyurappa that all precautions have been taken to reduce COVID cases in district. Due to those efforts, the recovery rate has increased.

He said pressure on doctors, medical staff and paramedics has increased after second wave of COVID-19. The current wave was proving more dangerous than the first wave. Need of the hour was to fight against the pandemic united and save lives of people. 

The State Government was doing everything to provide quality treatment to patients by streamlining the availability of beds, ventilators, oxygen and ICU. 

The medical staff is a priceless asset of society and the Government deems it honour to salute the medical fraternity for their tireless service at this hour of crisis, the CM added.

Doctors who shared their experiences, said that most of them had not gone home since the second wave struck the State. Nurses and paramedics also deserved appreciation as they too were working hand in hand with them all these months. 

The State Government can take decision on training final year medical and nursing students. Shifting patients from one hospital to another hospital in Malnad area has become difficult and this region needs more number of ambulances.

They also urged the State Government to implement tough rules for the home isolated patients as they roam on streets without locking themselves inside room. By doing this, they were spreading the virus to others. 

The availability of oxygen, Remdesivir injection and beds has improved now in most of the Government Hospitals,  they noted.
