R.G. Singh of Ramsons Kala Pratishtana is co-author

Mysuru:  The book titled “Thanjavur’s Gilded Gods: South Indian Paintings in the Kuldip Singh Collection,”  co-authored by Dr. Anna Dallapiccola, Kuldip Singh and R.G. Singh, Secretary of Ramsons Kala Pratishtana (RKP), Mysuru, will be launched by Marg Publications, a Tata Sons enterprise, today (Aug.27) at 6.30 pm at the art-space, the Folly, in the Amethyst on Whites Road, Royapettah, Chennai.

Dr. Dallapiccola is a renowned scholar on South Indian paintings while Kuldip Singh is the collector of South Indian paintings featured in the book and R.G. Singh is a well-known chronicler of Mysore’s tangible and intangible heritage and a collector of Mysore Style Paintings.

The book is a celebration of more than 300 paintings of Kuldip Singh, an architect based in Delhi. Experts opine that Kuldip Singh collection may perhaps be the largest single collection ever.

There will be a panel discussion with Dr. Anna Dallapiccola, Kuldip Singh and R.G. Singh which will be moderated by Ranvir Shah, Founder Trustee of Prakriti Foundation, Chennai.

‘Thanjavur’s Gilded Gods: South Indian Paintings in the Kuldip Singh Collection’, is in the tradition of all Marg Publications. It is erudite and evocative and above all eminently readable.

R.G. Singh in his chapter on Mysore Style Paintings traces the history of the evolution of Mysore Style paintings, identifying artists who lived and worked in the Mysore Palace. This book is a must read for one who loves traditional paintings.
