College students hold out-reach activity at Karimuddenahalli

Mysore/Mysuru: NSS and Red Cross Youth Wing of Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), under the banner of Unnath Bharath Abhiyan (UBA), conducted an out-reach activity at Karimuddenahalli in Hunsur taluk. The programme began at 8.30 am on April 10. An enthusiastic team of 40 students and 5 faculty coordinators from each Department of VVCE participated in the outreach activity.

Following activities were conducted on the occasion: Awareness on vaccination against COVID-19; Plastic awareness; Issue of cotton bags; Talk on New Education Policy-2020.

Dr. K. Gopal Reddy, Chief Coordinator of NSS and Red Cross Youth Wing of VVCE, Mysuru, highlighted about the importance of National service scheme. He even stressed about the need for doing social services. In his speech, he highlighted the programmes conducted by VVCE NSS youth wing such as creating awareness on usage of single use plastic, fund-raising during Pulwama attack for army relief fund, plantation drive, adaptation of villages under Samsad Adarsha Grama Yojana and many more.

The students also created awareness about various issues like ground water harvesting, plastic awareness, crop rotation by going to houses in the village. One of the most important activity conducted was creation of awareness about the vaccination for COIVD-19. 

Students of 5th semester EEE highlighted importance of taking vaccination for COVID-19 and also created awareness regarding the same. The students of 1st semester Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning delivered a talk on New Education Policy-2020. 

They highlighted about the new policy which replaces the previous National Policy on Education, 1986. The policy is a comprehensive framework for elementary education to higher education as well as vocational training in both rural and urban India. The policy aims to transform India’s education system by 2021.
