Mysore/Mysuru: A colourful procession carrying the portrait of 12th century saint Sri Madiwala Machideva and performance by cultural troupes marked Madiwala Machideva Jayanti celebrations in city this morning. The celebration was organised by District Administration in association with various organisations.

The procession was flagged off by MLA L. Nagendra after offering flowers to the portrait of Madiwala Machideva at Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple near the Mysore Palace.

A number of cultural troupes including Puja Kunitha, Veeragaase and Nagari artistes stole the show all along the procession route.

A huge portrait of the saint and women carrying ‘Kalasa’ were also the main attractions. The procession passed through K.R. Circle, D. Devaraja Urs Road and culminated at Kalamandira, where a public function had been organised.

Corporator Pramila Bharath and other community leaders were present at the venue.
