Commonwealth Chess Tournament 2017: Thejkumar held to a draw

IM M.S. Thejkumar (Rating-2491), representing India and taking part in the Commonwealth Chess Championship in the Open Section, drew his seventh round tie against FM Mitrabha Guha (Rating 2301) and at the end of the seventh round has secured 5 points and is placed 14th in the rankings on Saturday at the tournament being held at Delhi.

GM Abhijeet Gupta (Rating 2625) emerged as the sole leader with 6 points from seven rounds. Six players- GM Viabhav Suri, GM Swapnil S. Dhopade, GM Tejas Bakre, IM Wohl Aleksandar (Aus), GM Gagare Shardhul, GM Praveen Thipsay are placed from second to seventh in the rankings. 11 players are tied with 5 points and are placed from 8th to 18th in the rankings.

GM C. Aravindh, IM Mohammed Nubair Shah Shaikh, GM Abhijit Kunte, FM Mitrabha Guha, IM Sardana Rishi, GM Mollah Abdullah Al Rakhib (Bangladesh) and IM M.S. Thejkumar are placed from 8th to 14th in the rankings.
