Mysuru: ADGP Crime and Technical Services and Commissioner, Traffic and Road Safety, Bengaluru, Dr. M.A. Saleem directed the traffic officials to complete the pending M-Trac project at the earliest for safe movement of traffic.
He was addressing a meeting of Traffic Police officials at the Karnataka Police Academy auditorium in Nazarabad yesterday and said that when he was the Mysuru City Police Commissioner, a proposal was sent to the Government to implement M-Trac project to ease the flow of traffic.
The then CM Siddharamaiah who himself was from Mysuru had sanctioned Rs.13 crore grant for the project. The grants were released in two stages and the 52 traffic lights had been changed with most modern equipment. 59 surveillance cameras and 50 additional CC Cameras have been installed at major traffic junctions. Multi-functional gadgets have been provided to Traffic Police replacing the old Blackberries, he said. Dr. Saleem asked the officials to complete the new building housing the Traffic Management Centre on the lines of Bengalulru M-Trac project at the earliest.
The programme of creating traffic awareness among the public should continue. The signboards should be installed wherever necessary and parking arrangements should be made at many places, he said.
Mysuru City Police Commissioner Dr. A.S. Rao, DCPs Mahaninga Nandaganvi and N. Vishnuvardhana, Traffic ACPs, Inspectors and SIs of all the Police Stations participated.
