Complete UG cable works by Oct. 5: CESC Chairman

October 1, 2026

Mysuru: Srirangapatna MLA and Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) Chairman Rameshbabu Bandisiddegowda has directed agencies to complete ongoing underground (UG) cable installation in Mysuru by Oct. 5.

Chairing a review meeting at the CESC office on Tuesday, he instructed officials to meet the deadline and ensure 100 percent restoration of all sites where cable works have been undertaken.

He warned that no leniency would be shown and that action would be taken against those responsible if works were not completed within the stipulated time.

Expressing displeasure at roads and footpaths left dug up, Bandisiddegowda directed officials to close all pits, clear debris and dispose of it properly without delay.  He also instructed agencies to install barricades and signboards at work sites to ensure public safety.

He stressed the need for coordination among agencies, as several works, including white-topping, underground drainage and UG cable installation, are being carried out simultaneously in different parts of the city. Lack of coordination, he said, could cause inconvenience to the public.

Bandisiddegowda also directed officials to remove all UG cable materials and equipment lying on footpaths and other public spaces ahead of the Dasara festivities, to ensure smooth pedestrian movement and maintain the city’s appearance. Another review meeting has been scheduled for Oct. 6 to assess progress. He cautioned that stringent action would follow if the works remained incomplete by then.

CESC Technical Director L. Lokesh, Mysuru Circle Superintendent Engineer Sunil Kumar and others attended the meeting.
