Hackers demand 980 dollars to provide de-crypt key

Mysore/Mysuru: Miscreants, who hacked the computer of the District Consumer Redressal Forum at Kuvempunagar, by attacking the computer with Ransomeware Virus have demanded 980 dollars to provide the de-crypt key.

On Sept. 4 at about 10.02 am, the computer was attacked with the virus resulting in all the files in the computer becoming encrypt.

The hackers had sent a message stating that it would cost 980 dollars to provide the de-crypt key and if they contact [email protected] and [email protected] within 72 hours, they would provide the de-crypt key at 50 percent discount which would cost them 490 dollars, following which District Consumer Redressal Forum Officer H.S. Vijayakumar has lodged a complaint at city’s CEN Police Station on Sept. 11.
