Inaugurates vaccination drive for scribes

Mysore/Mysuru: On the occasion of Doctors Day on July 1, the District Administration wants to show its utmost respect to the doctors community and in this direction a “Corona-Free Mysuru Campaign” has been launched, said Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri.

Speaking to mediapersons after inaugurating the vaccination drive for journalists under the aegis of Mysuru District Journalists Association (MDJA) at Pathrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, she sought the co-operation of every citizen to control the pandemic and reduce the mortality rate in Mysuru District which was less than the State average.

The record vaccination in the district has helped to reduce the death rate and the vaccination drive has been successful in this district when compared to other districts, she noted.

The only ‘equipment’ people have to fight the COVID-19 pandemic is the vaccine and hence people must get vaccinated at the earliest, she added.

The DC said journalists are also frontline workers and they have been included in 25 categories to be vaccinated on priority. If they have any symptoms they can go to Covid Mitra and take treatment free of cost, she added.

In fact, the highest number of  RT-PCR test has been going on in Mysuru after BBMP. Though the district was reporting the record number of positive cases, the number of deaths has been very low.

The complete lockdown from Saturday will be as per the Government guidelines that needs to be followed by everyone. Till June 7, citizens are allowed to buy the essentials only on Mondays and Thursdays. However, medical shops, milk booths and HOPCOMS will remain open for the benefit of people, the DC noted.
