Couple held for stealing gold jewellery by replacing originals

Mysuru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) Police on July 2 have arrested a couple for stealing gold jewellery at jewellery shops after replacing the genuine jewellery with fake ones.

The arrested couple are 25-year-old Siddiq and 19-year-old Madeena, residents of Ghousianagar in city.

The Police have recovered 61 grams gold ornaments worth about Rs. 2 lakh from them. Following their arrest, the Police have solved two cases in Mandi and one case in Lashkar Police limits.

DCP M. Muthuraj and CCB ACP B.R. Lingappa supervised CCB Inspector C. Kiran Kumar, ASI Chandregowda and staff Ramaswamy, M.R. Ganesh, C. Chikkanna, C.N. Shivaraju, Yakub Shariff, Chandrashekar, Asgar Khan, Niranjan, Rajendra and Chamundamma, in the nabbing and recovery operation.
