Couple killed in serial accident between two cars and bike on NH-209

Malavalli: A couple, travelling in their car along with their daughter, was killed in a serial accident involving two cars and a bike on National Highway (NH) 209 near Dasanadoddi village in Malavalli taluk yesterday. Eight others, including the couple’s daughter, who suffered injuries, have been admitted to hospitals in Mysuru and Bengaluru.

The deceased are Madhusudan Joshi (54) and his wife Ganga Joshi (40), residents of Channapatna. The injured are the couple’s daughter 18-year-old Anusha and Nagaraju, Kumar, Rachamma, Jayashree, Pallavi, Kiran and others from Yalandur in Chamarajanagar district.

Details: Madhusudhan, along with his wife and daughter, was proceeding in the car to visit Gaganachukki Falls at Malavalli taluk, while Nagaraju, Kumar and others from Yalandur were proceeding in their car towards Malavalli from Belakavadi.

It is learnt that three youths from Belakavadi, riding triple on a bike, overtook one of the said cars near Dasanadoddi village resulting in the person behind the wheels of the car losing control of the vehicle which caused the serial accidents. Both the cars have been badly damaged.

Ganga Joshi, who suffered serious injuries, died on the spot, while Madhusudhan breathed his last at a hospital in K.M. Doddi. A few injured persons have been shifted to hospitals in Mysuru and Bengaluru for further treatment, according to sources.

Belakavadi and Malavalli Rural Police, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and Malavalli Rural Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
