Cow, calf injured in tiger attack

Gonikoppal:  In separate incidents, a cow and a calf were injured when a tiger attacked them at Besagur village near Gonikoppal in Kodagu. The incidents have created panic among the villagers.

On Sunday night, the tiger attacked a cow belonging to one Natesh which was tied near the cowshed. When the people began to make noise and rushed towards the cowshed on hearing the cries of the cow, the tiger is said to have fled from the spot. Injury marks were found on the cow.

In the second incident on Monday morning, the tiger has attacked a calf belonging to P. Ramesh of the village at the field injuring the calf on its neck.

The cow and the calf were treated by the Veterinarian.

Ponnampet Range Forest Officer (RFO) Gangadhar visited the spot.

It is learnt that, villagers who were returning to their homes on Sunday evening, sighted a tiger crossing the road from the forest near Mahadeshwara Swamy Temple and on the same night, the tiger has attacked the cow of Natesh.
