May 12, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers’ Association President Kurubur Shanthakumar has urged the State Government to organise Corona awareness campaigns and vaccination programme for people living in rural areas of the district.

He stated that the Association has set up a 15-member team, including seven qualified doctors, to joins hands with the district administration in its efforts to contain the pandemic spread. The team has been treating the infected patients as well as boosting their confidence to fight the deadly virus through telemedicine services.

“Corona Seva Pade team has also set up a WhatsApp group. Over 500 youngsters have already enrolled in this group and providing their valuable suggestions to combat the virus in rural areas in a more effective manner. I would like to advise the district administration to set up a Corona Committee having Gram Panchayat (GP) President, GP members as well as Village Accountants and Health Inspectors as its members to organise Corona awareness and vaccination programme for villagers. Government schools, community halls and hostels can be used as Corona Isolation Centres. Administration can admit the infected patients and provide treatment in these isolation centres. I would also urge the State Government to supply more number of PPE kits, vaccines, oxygen and all necessary medications to Taluk-level Hospitals,”  he said.
