Mysuru: CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysuru, is hosting a one-day National Conference on Virgin Coconut Oil on Dec. 26 at Assembly Hall of CFTRI.

The conference will be inaugurated by Dr. Raju Narayana Swamy,  Chairman, Coconut Development Board, Government of India, at 9.30 am. Dr. KSMS Raghavarao, Director, CSIR-CFTRI and  Dr. P. Chowdappa, Director, ICAR-CPCRI, Kasargod, will be other eminent speakers.

The Conference will be the meeting ground for manufacturers of value added products from Coconut, especially the Virgin Coconut Oil. Virgin Coconut Oil is a high value added product manufactured from fresh coconut.  

CSIR-CFTRI is in the forefront of the technology and 60 manufacturers are already producing the oil based on CSIR-CFTRI technology. The conference intends to take stock of the Virgin Coconut Oil sector in India and update the manufacturers on the latest technological developments in the sector. It will also be a forum bringing together manufacturers with the technologists to discuss the solutions to the problems encountered in the manufacturing of Virgin Coconut Oil and also take a look at the future prospects. It will also be a platform for neo-entrepreneurs to understand the nitty gritties of Virgin Coconut Oil manufacturing. Coconut products including Virgin Coconut Oil and processing machineries will be on display too.

Eminent scientists and technologists from research institutions like CSIR-CFTRI, the Central Plantation Crops Research Institute, Kasargod, manufacturers of Virgin Coconut Oil, Machinery manufacturers, Coconut Producers Cooperatives, Cooperative Farmer Producer companies, Policy makers, Potential entrepreneurs will be participating in the conference. Participation is by invitation and on first-come-first-serve basis.
