CSRTI hands over two technologies for commercialisation at Bharat Tex Expo

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru-based Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute (CSRTI) has achieved a significant milestone by developing two cutting-edge technologies, which were recently handed over for commercialisation. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formalised between CSRTI and the Central Silk Board (CSB) during the Bharat Tex Expo 2024 held in New Delhi.

In a statement released by CSRTI in Mysuru, it was announced that the commercialisation rights for two innovative technologies developed by the institute have been transferred to entrepreneurs. CSRTI Director, Gandhi Doss, facilitated the handover to the respective entrepreneurs who acquired them.

The technologies include the extraction of Chitin/ Chitosan from sericulture waste, pioneered by a team led by CSRTI scientist K.N. Madhusudan, and Mr. Pro, a solid bioformulation for managing root rot, developed by a team headed by scientist G.S. Arunakumar.

Present during the exchange of MoU were P. Sivakumar, Member-Secretary and CEO of CSB, Bengaluru and S. Mathira Moorthy, Director (Tech) of CSB.

Representatives from Azymus Life Sciences Ltd., Chamarajanagar and Rainbow Agrotech Pvt. Ltd., Kadapa, who acquired the technologies pertaining to Chitin/Chitosan extraction and Mr. Pro respectively, were also in attendance.

The MoU signing ceremony, held on Feb. 28, 2024, where Union Minister of State for Textiles Darshana Vikram Jardosh was the chief guest. Other distinguished guests included Rachana Shah, Secretary to the Government of India for Textiles, and Prajyakta L. Verma, Joint Secretary to the Ministry of Textiles (Natural Fibers).
