Bengaluru: A specially designed bus that is fully loaded is getting ready for All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi to launch his campaign for the forthcoming Assembly elections in the State.
The AICC has made this arrangement to attract the voters, as Rahul Gandhi has taken the elections in Karnataka very seriously.
“The customised bus, considered lucky by top Congress leaders because of the party’s impressive performance during recent Assembly polls in Gujarat, will be used by party President Rahul Gandhi to criss-cross the State during his three-day election-eve tour of Hyderabad-Karnataka region commencing on Feb.10,” said a source in the Congress party.
The bus arrived in the city a few days ago and is being guarded by Policemen at Palace Grounds. If Gandhi uses the aeroplane or helicopter then he will not be able to connect directly with the masses. During his yatra, he will hold small public meetings, street-corner sabhas and visit important places that will fall on the route and hence it is decided to use the bus, said the source.
The air-conditioned bus, complete with a mini conference hall-cum-sleeping room and a toilet has several other features. Bengaluru City Development Minister K.J. George has been given the task of getting the bus modified that includes painting and tinkering. It is fitted with cameras and a public address system.
