Mysuru: Legislative Council Chairman D.H. Shankaramurthy, who was in city, launched a signature campaign for river linking at a programme organised by Jala Sangamakkagi Hakkottaya Samithi at The Institution of Engineers premises on JLB Road here on Friday.
Speaking after launching the signature campaign, the Legislative Council Chairman said that the river linking project was long pending and expressed happiness that the signature campaign urging for river linking was being launched in Mysuru.
Stating that more research should be conducted as crores of people would be benefited, he asked various organisations to impress the youth to join hands with them.
Shankaramurthy later called upon the people to know the value of water besides asking them to use water judiciously.
Social Worker K. Raghuram, former Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal, former Deputy Director of the Kannada and Culture Department T.N. Dasegowda, Principal of Shankar Vilas Sanskrit School Srinivas Murthy, Convenor of Jala Sangamakkagi Hakkottaya Samithi H. Yamuna and others were present.
The signature campaign will be held for five days from today at K.R. Circle.
